What Ask Counsel gives you
Ask Counsel's answers are AI-generated general information or, on approved startup topics, preliminary guidance under Australian law based only on what you tell it; they are not reviewed by a lawyer and are not a substitute for advice from a lawyer who has been engaged and knows your full circumstances. No lawyer–client relationship is formed by using this website or Ask Counsel. Don't rely on an answer for a decision without asking Campbell to confirm — tap “Ask Cam to check this” on any answer.
Disputes, deadlines, tax, investment decisions and specific documents are not answered by Ask Counsel; they go on your list for a free scoping call.
Your information
The scope builder runs in your browser, and your scope, notes and Ask Counsel conversation are saved on this device (in your browser's local storage) so they are still here if you come back. "Start over" in the Scope panel clears them.
If you use Ask Counsel, your message, recent conversation and current scope (including your item notes and the details you have entered) are sent to our server and to Anthropic, which provides the AI model, to generate a reply. Clever Legal does not store that exchange; Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms and may retain it for a limited period for trust and safety. Ask Counsel gives general information and, on approved startup topics under Australian law, AI-generated preliminary guidance on your situation. That guidance is not reviewed by a lawyer, is based only on what you tell it, and does not create a lawyer–client relationship; don't rely on it for a decision without asking Campbell to confirm. Don't send confidential information or other people's details to the assistant.
If you choose Send to Cam, your contact details, scope, notes, questions and Ask Counsel conversation are emailed to Clever Legal so we can respond. That is when we first receive your information.
